Harper FAmily Adventure ~11 days, 11 states

Today is the first day I've opened a computer in the past few weeks. It's been a tad bit busy 'round here & my 'blogging schedule' has been interrupted. Ha! Although I'd love for writing to be at the top of my priority list, most days it gets pushed & shoved to the bottom. So, I'll be playing catch up & then hopefully getting back on my beloved 'blog schedule' {Until the next time it's Interrupted}

October was FULL! Full of Baseball, Soccer, Fundraiser Yard Sales, Instasales, Football games {Wreck 'em Tech}, missions meetings, weddings, laughter, tears & LOADS of traveling {3906 miles to be exact} We ended our month by heading out on a 5 day trip to Nashville for our dear friends sons wedding & some missions related meetings. And because it was only another 8 hours to Cleveland, OH where hubby's dad is in the hospital we decided we needed to go, and because it was only 2 more hours to NY state to see hubby's brother & family we thought we mine as well head up there, and because it was only another hour to Niagara Falls we figured what the heck! LOL We made our way back to Cleveland to spend more time with hubby's mom & dad and we were able to spend the evening with our soon to be South Sudan neighbors, the Elkins. It was an adventure, our kids are amazing travelers, and we had a lot of fun & made some great memories!

SNOW - Cleveland, OH Yes! My children in shorts!!!

Hangin' with Pop
Boat full 'o kids
We drove 1400 miles to have dinner with our fav peeps. Love you Elkins!

I spent less than 12 hrs home & then hopped a plane to Albuquerque for a Cultural Competency & Global Midwifery Skills course. It was amazing! I learned so much & God spoke to me in an incredible way, reminding me that my heart and passion is maternal/child and that God is going to use me in this area. It is so easy to get distracted by all the needs when you are preparing to move to a 3rd world country & I am grateful that God placed me back on track, that He has narrowed my medical perspective & that He knows my desire to love women and the children they birth and raise.

And of course we finished off the month of October stuffing our faces with C.A.N.D.Y!!!!!!

And because I just couldn't resist. I had to through this gem in...

Levi wanted to wear this to church

Happy Fall Ya'll. 23 days til Thanksgiving!!!!

Find My Family Friday ~ Maria

Meet Maria

Maria has a $15690.18

And.... SHE. NEEDS. A. FAMILY!!!!!

Maria is a bundle of sweetness and pure energy! She lives her life sort of like a game of bumper kids, not afraid of crawling over, through, or into other children to get where she wants to go. She is otherwise all girl, giggly and sweet, loving to blow kisses or play with dolls.

Freedom Day ~ 3 years!

3 years ago today we walked out of the orphanage with these two guys for the last time. You can read about Freedom Day 2010 HERE. This was the beginning of a new life for two little boys living in an orphanage on the other side of the world, who were soon to be transferred to an adult mental institution. It seems like yesterday in some ways & in other ways it seems like they've been a part of our family forever. These two changed us forever & we are blessed to be able to be their Mom, Dad, Brother's & Sister's.

Happy Freedom Day
Charlie & Levi!!!!

Ukraine Medical Outreach

We met Jim & Marianna Peipon on our first trip to Kyiv, Ukraine to adopt our boys. Marianna was the first person we met other than our driver. From that first moment on God bonded us together like family. UMO has been in Ukraine for 12 years ministing in so many different areas. What they do here is genius & is an amazing way to share Christ. Hundreds of medical students are equip to share Christ with their patients & colleagues and then they return to their homes in Africa, Asia & the Middle east where they are speaking truth and love into areas where other Christians would never be allowed. Totally amazing!! In addition Marianna has such a wonderful ministry & heart for orphans living with HIV and is an amazing advocate for so many children she meets.

Their Mission:
UMO ministers the unreached & underserved by equipping Christians & Christian medical professionals to proclaim and demonstrate the love of God to their patients & colleagues.

Ministering to Me & The Westbrooks while in country adopting
Speaking Truth into every person they meet
The Balcony Cafe! You only WISH you could eat here:)

Please join us in praying for this amazing ministry & specifically for Jim & Marianna as the continue to allow God to use them in countless ways.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ~Philippians 4:6

Happy Birthday Hubby

Celebrating This Guy...

There are no words to truly express how blessed I am to have this man beside me. You hold me up when I am struggling, you love me unconditionally, you make me laugh even when I don't want to & you always lead me back to God when I am weary, distracted or discouraged.  God meant us for one another & I am blessed to be able to be your wife. Daily I am amazed at how he continues to grow us closer to each other as we draw closer to Him and I can not wait to see how God continues to use us.

Happy Birthday Sid!
I Love You More...

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” ~Genesis 2:18

"Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose."~Phillipians 2:2

Find My Family Friday ~ Sutter

Meet Sutter

Are You My Mom & Dad?
My Time is running out...

**Sutter will turn 16 in FEB 2014.  A family must file specific paperwork PRIOR to his birthday, in order for him to be adopted.**

He had several operations as a child, which improved his locomotion, but after his growth spurt he lost some of his mobility again. He tries to walk with crutches and he gets PT for it. With the right medical care I’m pretty sure he would be able to walk.
Some days he is really kind for the other children in his group and then he acts really helpful. Other moments he tries to get all the attention. He would do very well in a family, where he gets the attention he deserves.
Sutter becomes 15 this year. He needs a family committed to him before his 16th birthday, otherwise he will never be able to join a family, his chanced are gone then and then he is condemned to institution life for the rest of his life
