Rwanda or Bust... Medical Teams Rock!

April was a great month for frolicking across Africa... It's May now & I'm still processing:) But I love me some Team Rwanda Medical Team Girlie's!!!

It started in Rwanda with an Incredible team of medical professionals who all totally rock! We flew across the big pond and finally arrived in Kigali, Rwanda exhausted but ready to love on some kiddos. As a medical team we totally understood that God gave us medicine as a means of not just bringing healthcare to those in need but as an avenue to share His Gospel. Although we wanted to see every child, we realized quickly that it was not about quantity but quality. We wanted to take time to show the kids that they are valued, that they are loved & that they have a heavenly Daddy that loves them. We wanted to focus on their hearts, to laugh with them & to pray over them. We were touched by so many & were blessed to be able to spend time with each child. Thank you to every women that joined our team. Thank you to Alison & Elise for helping us & hangin' with us and thank you to Visiting Orphans for what you do!

Rewind to a few weeks ago when I text my hubs and said, "what do you think about hosting an orphan this summer?" and his reply, " Sure" That was the extent of the conversation...

Fast Forward to Summit 9 conference in Nashville, TN. (Which was Ama-zing) Between the incredible sessions & speakers, my sweet friend Kirsten and I were walking through the exhibits. There were rows & rows of ministries, all with a heart for orphans & widows, all with a passion for glorifying God. As we passed a booth that's specific mission is Orphan hosting, we both spot prayer cards with sweet faces on them. Each child is either being hosted by a family for the summer or in need of a family to host them. We were both drawn in by a couple of little faces with Down Syndrome and started asking questions... And then I see This face:) It's the only card I held in my hand and it's the only card that came home with me. 20 questions & 20 minutes later this little guy was matched to our family!

For 6 weeks this summer. This little guy will sleep under our roof, in his own bed. Play with our children, go on vacation with us & see what it's like to be part of a family. And most importantly... He will hear about a Heavenly Father who loves him like crazy!

Operation: Abraham

Many of you have already met Abraham on my blog  HERE. But for those of you who have not...

Meet Abraham

It has been 16 months since I laid eyes on Abraham for the first time. There has not been a single day go by that I haven't prayed for this sweet boy and his amazing mamma. I was seriously touched by his sweet face & from that very first moment I knew that God had placed me there at just the right moment to see him. It was a God Appointed meeting. I knew I could not sit back and do nothing. As we sat that day in her tiny little mud hut I told her that I wanted to help her. As a family we began to sponsor her and her family through Hope For Korah and we gradually began to see Abraham looking stronger  & healthier:) Because we have 2 littles with Down Syndrome we knew that since Abraham had never seen a doctor in his 2.5 years it was crucial that he be seen. We finally were able to get him to a hospital where he could have a full medical workup. We knew that because of his Down Syndrome he might have medical issues that would need to be taken care of for him to continue to stay well & grow into a strong little boy. The results were no shock but yet I read the report and cried. Sweet little Abraham has 2 large holes in his heart that need to be closed! In Ethiopia not only do they rarely do heart surgery on pediatric patients, but they would not consider doing surgery on a child with Down Syndrome:( So we have worked over the past year to find a way to get his heart repaired and after many no's, we finally got a YES!!!!! Abraham will be traveling to Tenwek hospital in Kenya to see if the amazing surgeons can heal his broken heart. We have been completely in awe at how God has lined everything up so that Abraham could get strong enough to have surgery at an amazing hospital, with amazing surgeons, and we are beyond excited!!!! Our prayer is that we can raise the needed money by...hmmmm... let's see... the end of THIS week!!!! It is URGENT & Abraham needs to be in Kenya June 2nd to see the doctors. We are in a time crunch, but we know God has got this!!

Please pray about how you might be able to help & click on the Paypal Button below to be a part of  helping Abraham get the medical attention he so desperately needs.

He lifts the poor from the dust-- Yes, from a pile of ashes-- And treats them as princes sitting in the seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord's And he has set the world in order. ~1 Sam 2:8

Oh, The Places You'll Go...

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...” ~Dr. Suess

*********************************************************************************

Some days you wake up and realize you blinked and your first born child grew into an amazing young woman. You wonder where all the time went, and how you can get it back. Some days you are beside yourself with excitement about your baby's future & wonder where God will take her. You wonder if  you raised her well, if you loved her well, if you took care of the gift that God gave you. Some Days you wonder how in the world you are going to let her go... And then you do.

Congratulations

Lacey Shyanne Harper!!!

We are SO proud of you & love you more than words can express!
We can not wait to see what God does in this next chapter of your life.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. ~Joshua 1:9

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. ~1 Timothy 4:12

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. ~Proverbs 16:3

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. ~Jeremiah 29:11-13
